Student Publishing Award

My second grade class at Roosevelt Elementary, created a video book and won first place in the Time For Kids Student Publishing Award Contest. "Mrs. Wishy Washy Goes to the Zoo" demonstrates my integration of technology with language arts, art, and student publishing. In June of 2002, I traveled to Washington DC to receive the award. Jonathan Rosenbloom, Time for Kids Editor in Chief, made a special visit to Roosevelt in the fall of 2002.

Presidential Award for Integrating Technology

This award honored my "techno-books" which integrate PowerPoint, student artwork, VHS tape, and video editing equipment. The IRA awared Roosevelt School with $500 worth of educational software from the Learning Company. I have shared my techno-books at the Michigan Computer Users and Learners (MACUL) Conference and the Michigan Reading Association (MRA) Conference.

TAPS MACUL Award

The MACUL organization honors educators for using Technology as an Authentic Problem Solving tool in the classroom. My TAPS entry, Map Skills in My World, was recognized in March, 2004 at the MACUL conference. Read more about the solution to simulating a "birds eye view" in my application to the right.
