Welcome to my portfolio!

I have been teaching in Detroit Public Schools since 1986. After spending some time as a building substitute at Poe Trainable Center I obtained a position at the elementary level in a Hearing Impaired classroom at Newton Elementary (renamed Clara W. Rutherford Academy in 2001). I spent 9 years in this position. Then I moved into a 2nd grade Language Arts position for 2 years. From there I taught 3 years of 4th and 5th grade Social Studies. I was able to return to my first love and spent 3 years back in the Hearing Impaired program. This year I have branched out into general education again and teach 2 classes of 3rd grade Language Arts.
